It wasn't too long ago that Tyler and Naomi Yoner were crying in their living room, thinking they'd never own their own home. However, thanks to Habitat for Humanity, they now have keys to their very own house.

TYLER & NAOMI YONER/New Homeowners
"It's just been such a blessing. I'm overwhelmed for words. The blessings we've received just by having this house, not just living in it, but just in having it."

Tyler and Naomi are married with three children; Zachary, Ethan, and Emerald. Tyler works for a dry wall delivery company, while Naomi stays at home with the kids. Despite working hard, the down payment for a house was out of their price range. It was Naomi's mother who suggested they apply to Habitat for Humanity, and in May they received a call with some good news.

"I was having a horrible day. Tyler came home from work and he answered the phone. He said, 'It's habitat. They picked us for a family.' And I was like, no way, my day's just not going well, it's not possible."

But it was possible, as it was for four other families who were chosen by Habitat for Humanity. Through the program, families don't have to put a down payment on their house and their monthly mortgage payments are interest free.
The program touches many lives, including our very own Mayor's, whose brother was the recipient of a home a few years ago.

PAT FIACCO/Mayor of Regina
"It changed his life. And I know it's going to change your lives."

And it has for the Yoner family, who have already moved into their home.

"The first night in any other house we've lived in, it's always been a chaotic evening. But the first night we were there, it just felt like home."
